Tomi is an ecosystem that seeks to create an alternative worldwide web, leveraging Web3 infrastructure to promote digital human rights, including privacy, anti-censorship, and freedom of speech. The ecosystem is composed of several products, including a browser, a domain naming system (tDNS), a payment system (tomiPAY), and MP1 nodes, which allow for encryption of IP addresses and cryptocurrency transactions.
TomiNet, the alternative web created by Tomi, incorporates various unique features, including a governing body in the form of a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) and a privacy storage network that makes it resistant to capture, censorship, or external pressure. The project aims to provide a parallel internet that combines the best of Web2 and Web3 technology for a privacy-preserving, self-governing, and self-funding internet.
The TomiNet uses TCP/IP and DNS protocols for basic internet, TOR and Starkware for privacy and zero-knowledge, Ethereum and Starkware for the creation of a native cryptocurrency, and DAO technology for self-governance. It's designed to provide an alternative web for users in locations where their access to open information is limited, like Iran, China, and Saudi Arabia.
The project is built with passion for decentralization by a team of 96 people located in 10 different countries, and it's aimed at builders, change-makers, and freedom fighters. The platform also offers a premium content platform called "Gems," featuring content from top creators and publishers.
